Toggle Help to get info on how to use Multi-column sort, filter, copy, range operations and many more ...
- Actions menu: right click inside table in all browsers EXCEPT Opera, which disallows custom context menu. For Opera, press 'alt' key while you click inside the table to bring up the menu (this can be set to be the default for all browsers if you do not want TableTools to replace browser's default context menu). AND, it's really easy to customize the Actions menu - it takes literally seconds to add/remove/rearrange menu items/separators
- Sorting: Either click on the links in the column heading, or press 'ctrl' key while clicking inside the table column will sort that column. Click again sorts to a different direction
- Multi-column sort: press 'ctrl' key while you click the links in the column heading. Note that a unique set of icons I designed made sure you know not just the columns sorted and direction, but their order too! BTW, click sorting links without 'ctrl' key terminates the multi-column mode
- Filtering/copying: just use "toggle all filters" on the Actions menu to show the search and select filters, or choose one of the copy options on the menu to copy
- Summary: Accessible through Actions menu item "toggle summary". The last two columns on this demo page have all the built-in functions (min,max,avg,s.d.,med,sum) enabled - just "toggle summary" and see the stats!
- Using Actions menu, you can also hide columns. Note that the summary/copy will respect the hidden column and filter selections and will not work on hidden row/column
- All-column-search: bring up the "search filter" using the Actions menu, type ":ALL:keyword" to search for keyword. The keyword-matching cells will be highlighted (one highlighted cell per row). Highlight can be removed through Actions menu or by filtering again
- Inverted search: For the "search filter", use ":INV:keyword"; for "select filter", press 'ctrl' key while clicking on an option (ctrl+click on select menu does not work for Safari unfortunately)
- For the "search filter", ":INVALL:keyword" does inverted all-column search on keyword
- Use range operations in "search filter": "<=5 & >3" gives you any # that's over 3 and less or equal to 5; ">= 01.01.2009 | < 01.01.2007" in a M/D/Y date column gives you dates prior to 2007 or in or after 2009.
- Don't stop at the currency/number/date columns, try the range operators on IP addresses column and the "Image & Form" columns too! The range operations work in practially any column!
- BTW if you combine range operations with all-column-search, it's best to hide the columns that you do not want to search in first, and after search, unhide them again. Or you can try the search first, and if it gets unexpected results from columns where your range operators do not make sense, hide those columns & search again.
- Note that the demos have the cookie usage enabled to remember your sorting options for the browser session
